The Government of Punjab has not extended winter vacations in the province till 8th January 2023 and the notification going viral on social media is fake and has not been issued by the School Education Department of Punjab.
It is pertinent to mention that a fake notification regarding extension of winter vacations started circulating on social media after the Lahore High Court (LHC) directed the provincial government to extend winter vacations in Lahore due to the prevailing condition of smog in the city.
In the fake notification, it was mentioned that Government of Punjab has extended winter vacations in the province till 8th January 2023 with schools reopening from Monday, 9th January 2023 and resume a normal week for all classes.
However, the said notification is fake and the Punjab Government has not extended winter holidays in the province.

It bears mentioning that the Government of Punjab has announced winter vacations in the province from 24th December 2022 to 31st December 2022 with schools reopening from Monday, 2nd January 2023 and resume a normal week for all classes.

Meanwhile, it must be noted that the Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the Government of Punjab to extend winter vacations in Lahore by at least one week due to the prevailing situation of smog in the provincial capital.
