Fake News Regarding Schools Closure Circulating on Social Media

There is a fake news regarding the closure of schools circulating on social media and the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has issued a clarification in this regard on Twitter after a fake account posted the “schools will remain closed until next order.”

However, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has clarified the air regarding the fake news on closure of schools. “A fake news regarding closure of primary schools is circulating via fake Twitter account.” said the NCOC in a Tweet. “Action against this account has been initiated through FIA Cyber Crime Wing.”

The development comes a day after the NCOC postponed making a decision on whether the schools should be closed amid the surging rate of COVID-19 infection. The forum announced that final decision on the closure of schools in the country would be made based on the data of positivity ratio in various educational institutions for which mass testing is currently underway.

In the last 24 hours, Pakistan has reported 5,034 new infections of the coronavirus, which takes the positivity ratio to 9.45%, according to the NCOC’s daily update on the COVID-19 situation in the country. The final decision regarding the closure of schools will be made soon.
