The king of Hollywood, Dwayne Johnson is all set to lend his vocals as Superman’s best friend ‘Krypto the Super Dog’ in Warner Bros forthcoming animation feature ‘DC League of Super pets.’ Further, apart of The Rock, a larger voice over cast will be announced in the near future.
DC League of Super Pets
DC League of Super-Pets, a super-pets animated film has been penned down by Jared Stern of ‘The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ fame. Besides script writing, Stern will also serve as director of the forthcoming adventure. While Dwayne Johnson is producing the movie through his company Seven Bucks Productions, with his partners Patricia Hicks, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia on board. John Requa, Glenn Ficarra and Nicholas Stoller serve as executive producers.
DC League of Super Pets is the second development of The Rock with Warner Bros. He is currently shooting the New Line’s movie ‘Black Adam’ in which he plays the title character.
Moreover, the upcoming animation is based on characters from DC Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. “The Super Pets will center on Super man’s Dog Krypto who pairs with flying cat to stop crime while the Man of Steel is on vacation.”
Being based on pets of the DC superheroes, the movie, besides Krypto is assumed to feature characters like Streaky the Super-Cat, Comet the Super-Horse, Beppo the Super-Monkey, Damian Wayne’s pet dog, along with the Bat-Cow and Storm, Aquaman’s seahorse.
Dwayne Johnson has been casted as Krypto the super dog, however, the other cast is yet to be revealed. Nevertheless, Warner Bros hints at assembling a group of A-list actors, to voice the all animal troop.
Here to mention, the DC League of Super pets was first announced in July 2018, and was slated for 2021. But, later, it was pushed back a year along with having its title changed from ‘DC Super Pets.’
The animated movie will now hit the theatre screens next year, on May 20, 2022.
