As soon as the fictitious series released last year, it captivated the audience in its magical aroma, setting new records of viewership worldwide.
As Covid-19 outbreaks delayed many seasons and movies, the second season of phenomenal series The Witcher is not expected anytime soon. However, the show-runners of this supernatural world had been cooking something big and excited for “the Witcher citizens.” Hence, the prequel series “The Witcher: Blood Origin” is on its way to Netflix really soon. The series is comprised of six parts.

The Witcher: Blood Origin plot:
Synopsis:“Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the origin of the very first Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal ‘conjunction of the spheres’, when the worlds of monsters, men and elves merged to become one.”
The upcoming prequel is to be shot in UK and showcases the beginning of this monstrous world. It takes place about 1200 years ago from Geralt and highlights the origin of the Witchers.
The series is assumed to circulate around the very first Witcher and how this destiny continued, expanding this magical universe.
Declan De Bara on prequel series:
Declan De Bara, the writer of the first season of The Witcher seemed very excited for his new project. In a brief interview, he stated:
“As a lifelong fan of fantasy, I am beyond excited to tell the story The Witcher: Blood Origin. A question has been burning in my mind ever since I first read The Witcher books – what was the Elven world really like before the cataclysmic arrival of the humans?
I’ve always been fascinated by the rise and fall of civilizations, how science, discovery, and culture flourish right before that fall. How vast swathes of knowledge are lost forever in such a short time, often compounded by colonization and a rewriting of history, leaving only fragments of a civilization’s true story behind.”
Declan continued, revealing bit about Blood origin:
“The Witcher: Blood Origin will tell the tale of the Elven civilization before its fall, and most importantly reveal the forgotten history of the very first Witcher.”
A 2019 Netflix original series The Witcher gained critical acclaim for its exclusive storyline and incredible supernatural environment. The term Witcher refers to beast hunters that develop supernatural capabilities at a very young age, to battle monsters and wild creatures.
Adapted from the novel by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher revolves around Geralt of Rivia and princess Ciri, who are destined to be together. However, the mutated monster hunter struggles to find his place in the world where people are more dangerous than real beasts.
Moreover, the brave protagonist also faces special turns of event in order to protect Ciri.
The prequel series “The Witcher: Blood Origin” will take us back to the history, revealing how the monstrous world came into being and what caused the rise of the Witchers.
Hinting the appearance of new supernatural characters in upcoming series, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich commented:
“I am so thrilled to collaborate with Declan and the Netflix team on ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin.’ It’s an exciting challenge to explore and expand the Witcher universe created by Andrzej Sapkowski, and we can’t wait to introduce fans to new characters and an original story that will enrich our magical, mythical world even more.”
The release date and cast is not yet revealed, however the prequel is expected at the end of this year.
