Apple smartwatch is evolving from a simple gadget into a medical device for a better and healthy living.
Apple at its September hardware event unveiled its next-generation smartwatch – Apple Watch Series 4. With a better and larger display, it has come with a built-in electrical heart sensor enabling it to measure a variety of health metrics.
Apple has gained clearance from FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) to use its sensors and accompanying app to detect atrial fibrillation, an irregular heart rhythm that could lead to many heart conditions such as blood clots, stroke, and heart failure.
The new Apple watch series 4 will be equipped with electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor along with its typical IR sensor. It will also watch for heart rhythm and can detect if the wearer falls. It will automatically detect and initiate an emergency call. Automated SOS message will be sent to your emergency contact if it senses the wearer is immobile for 1 minute.
