ITP Issues New Speed Limit on Roads & Highways in Islamabad

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued revised speed limit on different roads and highways in Islamabad and urged everyone to avoid over speeding as it will result in E-Challan being issued to violators.

The authorities have stated that various highways of Islamabad Police are being monitored with the help of Safe City Cameras and speed challans will be issued on the violation of given speed limit on roads and highways in Islamabad.

According to the Islamabad Traffic Police, the speed limit will be 80 km/h for Light Transport Vehicle (LTV) and 65 km/h for Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) on Srinagar Highway, Islamabad Highway, and Murree Road.

Furthermore, the speed limit in Islamabad is reduced to 70 km/h for LTV and 65 km/h for HTV on the following roads:

  • Constitution Avenue
  • Jinnah Avenue
  • Faisal Avenue
  • Khyaban-e-Iqbal
  • Park Road
  • 7th Avenue
  • 9th Avenue

Meanwhile, the commuters on Islamabad’s Lehtrar Road are directed to follow speed limit of 40 km/h for both LTV and HTV. However, the speed limit on Kahuta Road and IJP Road in Islamabad will be 60km/h for both LTV and HTV.

Other major roads in the capital will follow a speed limit of 50 km/h for both HTV and LTV, while commuters on service road will observe speed limit of 60 km/l for LTV in case of dual road and 40 km/h for a single road, while HTV will observe 40km/h in both instances.

ITP has reduced speed limit for street and sectoral roads in Islamabad to 30 km/h for LTV and 25 km/h for HTV, especially near any schools or hospitals.

  1. How about to install some STOP, YIELD signs or add traffic lights on many intersections, merging, and exit points such as G-13 Exit off Kashmir Highway!
