Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister, Mohsin Naqvi has asked authorities to build a government-run cancer hospital in Lahore.
The announcement was made during his visit to Manawan Hospital, where he gave in principle approval for building a cancer hospital in Lahore and sough a plan in this regard.
CM Naqvi also inspected an adjacent building to the Manawan Hospital and proposed that it should be turned into a cancer hospital.
“Punjab is a province of 140 million people, but not even a single state-of-the-art public cancer hospital in there,” Naqvi said during the meeting. “A state-of-the-art public cancer hospital is the need of the people of Punjab.” he added.
He stated that it was the responsibility of the government to provide such a state-of-the-art hospital to citizens.
He ordered concerned authorities to finalize a design for the cancer hospital and plan the purchase of machinery and equipment.
