ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has reached Dubai on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to discuss mutual interests, including regional and global issues.
According to the details, the Foreign Minister was received by Pakistan’s Consul General in Dubai Ahmed Amjad Ali, senior embassy officials and UAE foreign ministry officials on arrival.
During the visit, the Foreign Minister will hold discussions with UAE leadership on matters on mutal interest, including bilateral relations, promotion of trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi will also meet with the Pakistani community and interact with international media during his two-day visit to UAE.
“The UAE is home to the second largest Pakistani community abroad.” stated the Foreign Office. “Pakistan and the UAE enjoy historic fraternal relations, rooted firmly in shared history, common faith, values and mutual respect.”
“High-level visits are an important feature, which not only exhibit cordial ties between the two countries but also accord the leadership an opportunity to give further impetus to strengthening bilateral cooperation on a wide range of issues.” the statement added.
This meeting between FM Qureshi and UAE officials is being held weeks after the country stopped issuing visa to Muslim-majority countries, including Pakistan, Turkey, Afghanistan, Iran and Syria.
Many sources stated that the reason behind the temporary visa ban was security concerns but no details were provided by UAE regarding the matter.
