The announcement comes a day after the Supreme Court (SC) declared the ruling of Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker, Dost Mohammad Mazari, as ‘illegal’ and ordered Pervez Elahi, the joint candidate of Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to take up the position of the new Chief Minister Punjab.

It bears mentioning that Deputy Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Dost Mohammad Mazari, had declared PML-N candidate, Hamza Shehbaz, as the winner of the election for CM Punjab despite getting only 179 votes against 186 votes PML-Q’s Pervez Elahi, after he rejected 10 votes cast by his party.
