Army called in Kohat and Hangu after violent protests

KOHAT: Army troops have been called for the assistance of civil administration in Kohat after violent protests in the city against incidents in Rawalpindi on Friday. The authorities have imposed curfew In Kohat and adjacent district of Hangu after violence claimed at least three lives including two policemen.

In Rawalpindi 11 persons were killed in violence and arson attack on Ashura.

Angry mobs set several shops on fire in Kohat amid protests against Rawalpindi incidents as unknown gunmen opened fire. Disurbances also erupted in Hangu, a hotbed of sectarian violence.

Army troops have take over Kohat to curb violence and maintain law and order in the city in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province. Curfew has been clamped in Kohat and Hangu.
