A blast in Peshawar has killed at least 30 people while dozens have been injured because of an explosion at a mosque (Imambargah) situated near the Qissa Khwani Bazaar during Friday’s prayer.
The police and security teams have cordoned off the area and started an investigation into the blast that rocked Peshawar during Friday’s prayer. while rescue official are working to move the injured to the Lady Reading Hospitals with residents are helping with the rescue work as well.
According to the details, CCPO Peshawar Muhammad Aijaz Khan there were two attackers who tried to enter the mosque and fired at police officers present on duty, which resulted in the death of one of the policeman, while the other one was seriously injured. The blast inside the mosque in Peshawar occurred shortly after the firing incident.
The CCPO said it was still too early to say anything about the nature of the explosion and authorities will update media as soon as more information is available.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has condemned the attack on the mosque and ordered to provide immediate medical care for the injured. The premier also sought a report on the blast inside the mosque in Peshawar from the concerned authorities.
Furthermore, the Peshawar CM Mahmood Khan has also condemned the attack on the mosque and sought a report from the inspector-general of police, while instructing rescue workers to speed up operation and provide the best care possible to the victims.
