Information Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb, announced that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided against the decision of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to hike the Petrol Prices in Pakistan from 1 May 2022. She added that ‘incompetency and serious mistakes” of the previous government were the reason for people’s suffering.
She said that Imran Khan-led Government had accepted harsh conditions by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in terms of increasing the prices of petroleum products in order to secure a loan from them. However, the new Government is making every possible effort not to put any further burden on the people amid already high inflation.
Therefore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has rejected the summary and decided the keep the Petrol Prices in Pakistan unchanged for the first half of next month from 1 May 2022 to 15 May 2022 in line with the decision of the Former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
It is pertinent to mention that Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Miftah Ismail had also announced that Petrol Prices would not be increased immediately and advised people to stop filling their petrol tanks out of panic.
