Pakistani cricket legend Shoaib Akhtar resigned and walked out from the program ‘Game on Hai’ that was airing live on TV. The incident occurred as a result of some harsh exchange of words between Shoaib Akhtar and the program’s host Dr Nauman Niaz after Pakistan’s win in the match against New Zealand in the T20 World Cup.

Shoaib Akhtar was going through some details about Shaheen Shah Afridi during the post-match discussion with several other panelists present in the room, including former Pakistani cricket players, Azhar Mahmood, Aaqib Javed, Sana Mir, and Rashid Latif. However, the show’s host Dr Nauman Niaz took some offense to something Shoaib Malik said and snapped back at him.

“You’re being a little rude and I don’t want to say this, but if you’re being over smart, you can go. I am saying this on air,” Nauman Niaz told Shoaib Akhtar on air. It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the TV host to snap at Shoaib Akhtar, who also was caught off guard at the time.

Shoaib Akhtar tried to resolve the matter with Nauman Niaz but ended up walking away after giving him verbal resignation and apologizing to other guests, including Sir Viv Richards, and David Gower. “A lot of apologies guys, a lot of apologies. I am resigning from PTV. The way I have been treated on national TV, I don’t think I should be sitting here right now. So, I am resigning. Thank you very much,” he said before leaving the table.

Even if there wasn't a legendary cricketer like #ShoaibAkhtar, still no one should be insulted on national TV when there are millions of people watching the live broadcast.#NaumanNiaz must resign or else he should be fired from the job

Nauman Niaz was undeterred from the incident and continued as if nothing had happened. Meanwhile, Shoaib Malik released a statement on Twitter clarifying his position on the matter. He said that he had talked to Nauman Niaz and asked him to apologize on air but he refused to do so.

Dr Nauman Niaz also took to Twitter and responded to the matter. “

I wonder why one has to be reminded @shoaib100mph is a star. He has been the best of the best, he shall always be. He has brought laurels to the country is undeniable. One side of the story always attracts nonetheless having been friends for ages I’ll always wish him the best.” the TV hosted wrote in his Tweet.
