Woman Attacked by Jaguar Trying to Take Selfie at Arizona Zoo

ARIZONA: A woman was attacked by a Jaguar trying to take a selfie with the animal at Arizona Zoo.

The officials said she crossed the barrier to take a closer picture with the jaguar.

The incident occurred at the Wildlife World Zoo in Maricopa County on Saturday.

The woman in her 30s was trying to take a photo of the jaguar. She got to close to the fence of the jaguar enclosure.

The big cat swiped right at her arm.

The woman has suffered deep cuts to her arm which are visible in the aftermath video.

The woman is seen tossing and turning on the ground.

She is also heard moaning in pain and shock.

Adam Wilkerson captured the video. He said his mother distracted the jaguar with water bottle.

He than was able to pull the woman away from the jaguar.

Witnesses have told the Zoo officials that she had crossed the barrier for the selfie.

Wildlife World Zoo Director Mickey Ollson has said this is the second incident that the 4 to 5-year-old female jaguar has swiped at someone trying to cross the barrier.

Ollson also said it was not the fault of the jaguar therefore nothing will be done to the wild cat.

We can promise you nothing will happen to our jaguar. She’s a wild animal and there were proper barriers in place to keep our guests safe- not a wild animals fault when barriers are crossed. Still sending prayers to her and her family.
