Pakistan Super League Seventh Edition (PSL 7 2022) – Match 9 Highlights – Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars (PZ vs LQ) at Karachi National Stadium – Lahore Qalandars won by 29 runs.
Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to bowl first but failed to restrict Lahore Qalandars to a low total as they ended up setting a target of 200 to win the game in the second innings.
Lahore Qalandars had a even performance across the board with Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman scoring 41 and 66 runs off 31 and 38 balls, respectively, as the openers. Meanwhile, Kamran Ghulam and Mohammad Hafeez managed 30 and 37 runs off 23 and 19 balls, respectively.
David Wiese on the other hand was sent back to the pavilion on the first ball, while Rashid Khan was able to add 22 runs to the total from just 8 balls towards the end of the innings. The Lahore Qalandars were able to set a target of 200 for Peshawar Zalmi to win the game.
Peshawar Zalmi had a rough start during the second innings with their opener Hazratullah Zazai being sent back to the pavilion very soon for no score at all, however, Kamran Akmal and Hussain Talat managed 41 and 15 runs off 21 balls each, respectively.
Haider Ali was able to score 49 runs off 34 balls for Peshawar Zalmi, while Shoaib Masood only managed 7 runs off 9 balls before being sent packing back to the pavilion. Sherfane Rutherford and Ben Cutting also managed 21 and 10 runs, respectively, however, it wasn’t enough to get anywhere near the target set by the Lahore Qalandars, who won the match by 29 runs.
