Sony has expanded its color options for the PS5 Slim, introducing three new side plate choices at CES 2024: Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver. These vibrant colors, part of the Deep Earth collection, echo the original PS5 console’s aesthetics.
The matte finish on the new side plates deviates from the glossy and matte combination of the standard White option. Priced at $54.99, the side plates are sold separately, allowing users to customize their consoles. Sony plans to release an all-matte Black side plate soon. Notably, the Deep Earth collection is limited to the disc version of the PS5 Slim.
The PS5 Slim, launched in October, is a more compact version of the standard PS5, featuring a detachable disc drive, increased storage to 1TB, and an additional front USB-C port.
Despite the slim design, it retains the same hardware power as its predecessor. The color expansion provides users with a personalized touch to their gaming setup, and the Deep Earth collection, along with the nostalgic Sterling Silver option, caters to PlayStation fans seeking a throwback aesthetic. Sony emphasizes the ability for existing console owners to easily switch out side plates, adding a layer of customization to the gaming experience.
