The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the Ras Al Khor Road Widening Project, expanding it from 3 to 4 lanes in both directions over a 3-kilometer stretch. This development spans from the Bu Kadra intersection to the Al Khail Road intersection. Additionally, the collector roads for turns on Ras Al Khor Road towards the Dubai-Al Ain Road will be widened from one to two lanes by April.
This initiative forms part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance Dubai’s infrastructure, particularly in areas facing rapid urbanization and population growth. Widening Ras Al Khor Road from three to four lanes in each direction is anticipated to facilitate smoother traffic flow, accommodating an increase in vehicle intake from 6,000 to 8,000 per hour. Moreover, it is projected to reduce travel time by up to 33% during peak hours.
Ras Al Khor Road serves as a vital thoroughfare connecting numerous residential and industrial zones, accommodating approximately 650,000 residents and supporting various ongoing development projects. Furthermore, the enhancement of the bypass lane towards Dubai-Al Ain Road is set to double its capacity, allowing for the passage of 2,000 vehicles per hour and improving vehicle flow by 100%.
The completion of the Ras Al Khor Road Widening Project signifies a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in Dubai, aiming to meet the growing demands of its expanding population and economic activities.
