The National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) has reminded everyone that vehicles will not be allowed entry on Motorway without M-TAG after December 31, 2023.
Taking to social media, the NHMP wrote, “No M-TAG, No Entry,” as they reminded everyone of the December 31st deadline.
It means that starting January 1, 2024, no vehicle without a valid M-TAG will be allowed to entry any motorway across the country, which includes Islamabad-Peshawar M-1, Lahore-Abdul Hakeem M-3, Pindi Bhattian-Multan M-4, Multan-Sukkur M-5, Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan M-14, Hasan Abdal-Mansehra Expressway E-35 and others.
However, you don’t need to worry as the process to get an M-TAG is fairly straight forward and takes no more than a few minutes.
How to Get M-TAG?
The most straightforward method to acquire an M-TAG for your vehicle is to visit Motorway Toll Plazas such as M2 or M9. Head to the M-Tag issuance booth located at the side of the Toll Plaza for a seamless process.

Ensure you have the following documents when obtaining an M-TAG:
- CNIC
- Vehicle Registration Book
- Driving License

To check your M-TAG ID, utilize the One Network App or call 1313. Alternatively, you can check your M-TAG ID via SMS to 9909 by sending the following message: ‘Mtag <space> CNIC number.’
