LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas confirmed that coronavirus testing for teachers was only a proposal and will be discussed at the meeting on 7th September.
As many media outlets started reporting that coronavirus testing for teachers was mandatory to return to work, Murad Raas took to Twitter to confirm that what he mentioned at the press conference on Tuesday was merely a suggestion and will be discussed at the meeting of all educational ministers next month.
At the press conference he said that 15 September was just a tentative date for opening of schools in Pakistan and the final decision will be made at the meeting on 7th September taking into consideration the coronavirus situation in the country,
As many people are still reluctant to send their kids to school, Murad Raas mentioned that it was under discussion to open schools in phases with class 6 onwards coming back in the first phase.
According to the Punjab Education Minister, a reduced syllabus was being prepared in wake of the coronavirus and closure of schools for extended period. This syllabus will be shared with schools and students.
Talking about the 20 percent fee discount, the education minister mentioned that the discount will continue for the month of September. Furthermore, schools will be registering under a software that is being developed to monitor the situation of the coronavirus.
Murad Raas also mentioned that it will be the responsibility of parents to make sure that their child comes to school with a face mask otherwise entry will not be allowed.
