Ertugrul star Engin Altan teases next historical serial ‘Barbaroslar’

Following the worldwide acclamation of ‘Dirilis Ertugrul’, the charismatic and critically renowned Turkish star Engin Altan is all set for another historical fiction, for which the actor has recently shared a compelling teaser trailer, reliving the 15th century times. Titled ‘Barbaroslar’, the forthcoming period drama is also a TRT production and will be released in near future.

The enigmatic and artistic Engin Altan duzyatan had garnered massive acknowledgement and fan following the previous year, on account of his chartbuster historical drama Dirilis Ertugrul. The actor had portrayed a fearless, audacious Muslim soldier of the Ottoman times, and the father of Osman, who later founds the Ottoman Empire in the series. Meanwhile, the whole narrative revolved around the adventures and struggles of Ertugrul and his companions, fighting for their empire and the prosperity of Islam in that era. Hence, the five seasons comprised series was an immense success of the then year, with Engin Altan’s fan following scattering all over the globe.

Moreover, other than his legendary Ertugrul Ghazi character, Engin Altan has appeared in some other popular Turkish series and films also. Kursun, Son,   Bir Bulut Olsam, Yol Ayrımı are among Engin’s acting credits.

Engin Altan to star in ‘barbaroslar’

Engin Altan Duzyatan has signed up for another tough yet exciting avatar and will be soon spotted onscreen as a daring leader in the period drama ‘Barbaroslar’ coming forth real soon.

Barbaroslar is reportedly based on the late 15th and early 16th century story of Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha, known as “Kaptan-ı Derya”, and his brothers who secured Ottoman supremacy over the Mediterranean region, dominating the entire coasts, owing to their naval prowess.

However, Engin Altan has not embraced the Hayrettin pasha’s epitome. Rather, the actor will be depicting the titular character of Oruç Reis, the brother and the biggest supporter of Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha.  

Likewise Ertugrul Ghazi, Barbaroslar is also a TRT production and will be aired on TRT1. The show is currently being filmed in Istanbul, and is expected to air sometime around fall 2021.

Furthermore, the first trailer of the six episodes comprised upcoming series was dropped earlier in June. And, as the show is nearing its wrap up, the second teaser trailer for ‘Barbaroslar’ has also surfaced.

The newest sneak peek into the historical series was given by Engin Altan on Monday. Taking it to his instagram handle, the actor mesmerized million of his die hard devotees, as he revealed his first look as Oruc Reis, followed with a detailed second trailer.

Judging from the trailer, Barbaroslar will showcase the adventures of four brothers in the Mediterranean, called Oruç, İshak, İlyas, and Hızır, who are the rulers of the seas in the Ottoman Empire.

According to reports, many foreign experts from TV series such as Vikings and Homeland were invited to Turkey to create the action series.
