KARACHI: Pakistan Super League sixth edition (PSL 6 2021) – Match 2 Highlights – Lahore Qalandars VS Peshawar Zalmi at Karachi National Stadium – Qalandars won by 4 wickets with 9 balls remaining.
Lahore Qalandars had won the toss and elected to field first allowing Peshawar Zalmi to set a target of 141 for the opposing team after scoring 140/6 in the first innings of the second match of the PSL 6 2021 tournament. It is pertinent to mention that the Qalandars are last year’s losing finalists whereas Zalmi were knocked out in the play-offs.
Peshawar Zalmi had a rough start to their batting with the loss of wickets for their openers Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal, who both scored 0 and 5 runs from respectively off collective 11 balls. However, Shoaib Malik picked up the pace as he entered the pitch and scored 26 runs off 24 balls for the Zalmi squad.
Meanwhile, Haider Ali failed to perform and lost his wicket at the first ball without scoring any runs but Ravi Bopara filled the gap with an exceptional performance and scored 50 runs, making his half century, from 44 balls.
Sherfane Rutherford scored 26 runs from 27 runs off 27 balls for the Peshawar Zalmi while Amad Butt also gave an outstanding performance with his batting having scored 23 runs off just 11 balls towards the end of the innings.
On the other hand, the Lahore Qalandars managed to easily chase the target of 141 set by the Peshawar Zalmi squad and even though they experienced a few hiccups, the team managed to pull through in the end.
The Lahore Qalandars batting line-up showed consistent performance, however, Mohammad Hafeez with his 33 runs off 26 balls and Rashid Khan with 27 runs off 15 balls managed to take the team to victory.
It is also pertinent to mention that Ben Dunk also managed to score 22 runs runs off 14 balls and helped guide the Qalandars to victory in their first match of the PSL 6 2021 tournament.
