Taiwan bridge collapse: two dead, twelve injured, six missing

TAIWAN: Taiwan bridge collapse is caught on camera. The 140 meter bridge collapsed on fishing vessels on Taiwan’s east coast.

The road bridge in Nanfangao, eastern Taiwan injured at least twelve people as it collapses on fishing vessels.

As the bridge collapsed, it forced an oil tanker in the water and killed two people below in the fishing boats.

Some people are feared stuck under the structure.

Local news agency have reported a truck fell onto fishing boats and ignited fire.

The Yilan Fire Bureau have reported the oil tanker fell onto the fishing boats as the bridge broke.

The cause of the collapse is unknown and the investigations are underway. The rescue operations are also underway.

The South Australia Cross-Harbour Bridge collapsed at 9 am.

The Fire Bureau has pointed out that out of twelve injured , nine of the were foreign nationals, sixty-one year-old tanker driver and two sea patrolmen.

The injured have been sent to Luodong Bo’ai Hospital for treatment.

Three Indonesians and three Filipinos have lost contact.

Central Disaster Relief Center dispatched helicopters for aerial survey, helping in the rescue are also National Army and Sea Guard Office.

President Tsai Ing-wen

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen said “We hope everyone can be safely rescued in the shortest amount of time,” 

President Tsai Ing-wen went to the site of the incident to inspect and instructed for search and rescue as a priority and to find out the cause of the accident.

President Tsai Ing-wen also visited the injured and assured best treatment for them.
